Triple Bulb Vase, Ceramic Art Pottery with Flowers by Michael W. Moses at South Coast Antiques & Gallery
This is an image that I took this morning of a triple bulb vase that I did a while back. This vase is sporting a lovely cluster of flowers. I have no idea as to what these flowers are called, but they have nicely shaped leaves and very attractive flowers that seem to just work so well with this vase. If anyone knows what these flowers are please tell me. This one of a kind piece of ceramic art pottery is currently available at South Coast Antiques & Gallery in Ocean Springs, MS.

Yellow Red Flower Pod Vase by Michael W. Moses in Ocean Springs, MS
Have had a pretty nice week and the weekend has not been to bad either. I had some things to do in the shop this afternoon, so I just turned the open sign on and had a fairly good number of people visit the shop. Here is a piece that I finished recently. It is a whimsical little yellow pod vase that is covered with small red and blue flowers.
There is a surprise inside. There are two small blue bulblets nestled deep inside the vase.
This is what this piece looked like after I had finished painting it with the under glaze pigments. before I added the over glaze.
Much more to come soon!

Bird Sculptures of A. Cesar Nogueira at 2011 Pensacola Museum of Art's, Art in the Park, Arts Festival
One of the highlights of the 2011 Pensacola Museum of Art's, Art in the Park, Arts Festival
for me was seeing the wonderful lapidary avian sculptures of A. Cesar Nogueira.
Mr. Nogueira has been working in the medium of semi precious stone for over thirty years and is following the highest quality techniques of both the Fabergé and Idar-Oberstein traditions
.
He does all his works of art without the help of apprentices or assistants, utilizing large lapidary diamond wet blades to cut and shape the parts, he then inlays the different types of stones with specially developed epoxy adhesives. The detail work is all done by hand with dental diamond hand tools, which provide delicacy and precision. His intricate hand work provides each of his birds with an uniquely expressive personality.. The natural colors of the gemstones and the entirely free-hand nature of the process make every piece an truly exclusive original work of art.
His work is just a pleasure to see in person. No photographs can do this type of work justice. Here are a few images of his work to give one an idea as to the type of work he is doing.

My student Tyler Gibson's First Piece of Art Pottery
My student Tyler has just finished his very first piece of art pottery! I am about as proud as one can be about it. His finished work really shows a spark of ability that has me excited to see what his future works will be like. I will be posting more of his works in the near future.
Tyler Gibson's first completed ceramic art pottery piece is a hand modeled bulb type vase.
IMHO, It's just beautiful!
