Well, just to update a bit. If you were interested in the following three pieces of my ceramic art pottery you are to late.  All three pieces have already been sold at "Persnickety" of Madison, MS! All three works sold on the same day that we did the initial installation. "Yellow Red Service Shell Bowl" Hand Sculpted Ceramic Art Pottery by Michael W. Moses Ocean Springs, MS

Fresh to our world from a sun drenched alien seashore comes the "Yellow Red Service Shell" bowl.

A luxurious study in a matt, satiny, sulphur yellow exterior glaze.

The yellow outside is a perfect foil for the shiny glassy red interior of this piece.




 Each little tiny blue dot is painted one at a time and then painted over with a drop of clear glaze. The yellow is three coats of glaze tediously hand painted around the dots.

The flowing pink and red interior is totally hand painted to give it the effect of a natural flowing surface and then covered in crystal clear glaze.

 

The bottom is hand engraved with my signature and place of manufacture. The writing is filled with colored glaze that is fired on to the piece.

"Napoleon's Bee Bowl" and "Where the Red Tendril Grows Bowl" by Michael W. Moses

Here are two of my latest works of ceramic art pottery.

The first piece is a thin walled bowl, that I call "Napoleon's Bee Bowl".  It is a small bowl that has a small bee, which was the Emblem of  Napoleon Bonaparte.  

The link is to a great blog post about the Napoleonic Bee with a few great examples, including one that is really special!

The exterior of the bowl is done in lively tidal pool colors and the interior is in tones of  royal purple.  All pulled together with a neat little sunshine yellow and bright turquoise blue bee.

 

 My second new bowl  is called "Where the Red Tendril Grows Bowl".  It has a pink exterior with baby blue and red detailing and a rich interior that is done up in squash bloom yellows with blue designs and one small bright red, probing tendril coming out of the side of the bowl.  This one of a kind, hand crafted, work of ceramic art will radiate a feeling of unbridled exuberance to any location  it may be placed!

New Dragon Pod Vase by Michael W. Moses and New Ceramic Art work by Tyler Gibson

My last post featured a freshly painted Dragon Pod Vase and here it is out of the kiln and ready for viewing at South Coast Antiques & Gallery. I am really pleased with the outcome of this vase. The Yellow is very intense and the red is just a gleaming candy apple red! The inside is Kermit the frog green with blue dots. This vase is loosely based on the Pitaya fruit, also known as the Dragon fruit.

Now here we have a new piece by Tyler Gibson. This ceramic art pottery work is done in Earthen tones and was specifically painted to give it a bottom of the sea feel and look. The white swirl seems to give this piece a real sense of movement.  In my opinion movement is a real plus for a piece of pottery.

A New Plate and a Freshly Painted Dragon Pod Vase by Michael W. Moses

Here is my newest piece of ceramic art pottery  I call it "Yellow Scholars Plate".  

This work is a vaguely oriental looking piece that I have embellished with three applied sculptured alien seeds.

This is a dragon fruit pod vase that I have recently finished painting. I will post more images of it once it is fired.

Night and Day Yellow Blue Bowl by Michael W. Moses, Ocean Springs, MS

 

Oh, do I have egg on my face. I have been telling people for a fairly long time that not a single person in Ocean Springs, MS. where our shop is located, owns a piece of my pottery. I have just found out that I have been misinforming people. I sold two pieces of my art pottery this afternoon my Red White Mellon Bowl  and my Dark Rainbow Tea Cup. As I was logging them into my inventory files where I keep images of each piece that I make along with it's unique designator serial number, and who purchased it, I made a surprise discovery. I saw this Blue Yellow Fossil covered work that I called, Night and Day Yellow Blue Bowl  This is a piece that I made a couple of years back. The inside and outside is completely hand carved. The inside is blue on yellow and the out side is yellow on blue. I just saw that it was sold a bit over a year ago and that it had been sold to a customer that only lives a few streets away from our shop. Oops!  I guess one person in town here has purchased one of my pieces. They made a good choice in my opinion. It was a bowl that I was quite pleased with. Also note that it of course has one red herring on it!

Yellow Bulb Vase with Azalea Flowers by Michael W. Moses

This is an image that I took the other day, it features one of my nice bright yellow and blue bulb vases. This one is jauntily displaying a small bouquet of rather large red  azalea flowers. I have used one of my paintings that I did back in the early 1990's as a background.

This is a new work that I call the "Thermal Vent Red Pod Vase". It is in glowing fiery tones of red and orange. The inside and the little round holes in the sides are glazed in a deep brownish shiny, lustrous glaze.
